Challenge
- Federal agency operated on dated network and legacy customer premise equipment (CPE)
- Network comprised of multiple, disenfranchised service providers—resulting in a costly, complex, unreliable and IT infrastructure
- Mission-critical requirements for reliability and survivability in case of outages could not be met
Solution
- To mitigate costs, extensive IT staffing, interoperability and reliability issues, a modern and secure global network, and to replace legacy CPE
- Verizon deployed a multi-location network overhaul, rapidly modernizing the agency’s IT infrastructure with a turn-key, geo-redundant, Unified Communications platform and modern CPE
- Verizon provided 4G LTE network to deliver highly reliable global service for voice, data and video communications
Outcome
- Replaced dated premise equipment with modern and secure CPE, including staff computers, phones and video conferencing equipment
- Safeguarded continuity during outages with built-in redundancy and automatic fail-over
- Improved employee communications, collaboration and mobility – via secure unified communications platform able to support 300,000+ users
- Increased operational efficiency and decreased costs via fewer, standardized CPE components with lower power consumption
- Provided IP phones in more than 600 offices
- Improved speed, reliability and scalability of core voice and network
- Decreased costs and complexity associated with having multiple service providers
- Create a migration path to advanced technology with a unified communications platform capable of supporting new applications over 4G LTE
